About W-S-C

When Håkon Storm and Jan Wiese first met and played together in the spring of 2017, they uncovered the potential of a special kind of music - a  unique and interesting kind of  jazz. Among the many excellent guitarists on the Oslo scene, Håvard was especially recruited in a few months later. By August 2018 the trio has developed a varied repertoar of original compositions.

Wiese-Storm-Caspersen will take you away into a colorful and inspiring musical landscape. - Oboe and English horn in combination with the various guitars, come together in a fascinating and beautiful blend of sounds. 

Håkon Storm-Mathiesen

Classical and eight string baryton guitar

Håkon  is a renowned jazz guitarist, composer and teacher at The Norwegian State Academy of Music and as  a guest teacher at various international conservatories, like Den Haag, Amsterdam, Como, and at the Tokyo Kunitachi Music Academy. Håkon regularly performs with his own trio, quartet, and quintet and he has released two albums with original compositions and impro works for solo guitar: “Zinober” (2012) and “Fosfor” (2014). 2016 projects include the cd “Kobolt” w/ Dutch string quartet Zapp4, and “Volta Trio” w/ Japanese Koichi Osamu (Bass) and Kazumi Ikenaga (Drs). - Håkon was also a member of Line Up, an internationally acclaimed cool jazz orchestra, with Jimmy Halperin (US)/ Steve Altenberg (US), and De Press, Norwegian New Wave/art rock quartet. Since 2010, he has been co-leader of Winther-Storm, dutch-based jazz/rock quartet.

Håkon Storm was invited to Japan in 2003 to perform his music with several Japanese big bands, and smaller combos. This led to following tours in 2008, 2009, 2012, 2014 and 2016. The touring in Japan included cooperation with outstanding musicians like Ken’ichiro Shinzawa, Yoshihiko Katori, and The Global Jazz Orchestra.

Håvard Caspersen

Classical and 12 string guitars

Few musicians can challenge Håvard Caspersen´s experience and diversity. After graduating at Norwegian Academy of Music in 1997, he has been a soloist with the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra and the Norwegian Radio Orchestra - he has toured internationally with artists like Wenche Myhre, Jens Wendelboe and Jahn Teigen, played in numerous TV productions, musicals and theater-shows, and recorded with some of the most popular Norwegian pop, folk and rock artists. In addition to being one of the most frequently performing freelancers in the Oslo region, Håvard is a composer, producer and studio technician. He holds a central position in the Oslo region as a teacher and mentor for young guitarists. The album “Crossing the universe in a day” is collection of compositions and improvisations that was released in 2014. A follow up called ”Acoustic Shortstories” came in 2017 and was described by the critics as intricate and beautiful, great tunes and fantastic playing

Jan Wiese

Oboe and English horn  

From the early 1980s Jan Wiese performed frequently in USA and Europe - with the Wiese-Wøllo-Waring trio (CD new release 2008) and as a soloist with live electronics (CD: "Stunt!" 1991). He is an extraordinary musician with an international reach who makes music that crosses boundaries with skill, inventiveness and imagination like few others. Jan is a pioneer of electro acoustic improvisation - live electronics – and oboe, in a mix of contemporary jazz, ambient, noise, electronica and contemporary art. Recently he has collaborated with performance artist Johanna Zwaig and the Italian folk singer Aronne Dell´Oro in concerts in Norway and Italy. - As a pedagogue and coach Jan is working with students, soloists and business executives in Norway.
